Chromite sand is an iron chromium oxide found naturally in the earth crust. It is by far the most industrially important mineralfor the production of metallic chromium, used in the production of Stainless and Tool Steel. It is also used as a refractory material because of its high heat stability. The chromium extracted from chromite sand is used in Chrome plating & alloying for production of corrosion resistant super alloys. Chromium is also used as a pigment for glass, glazes & paints and as an oxidizing agent for tanning leather.
Application:
Used in high duty grey iron and steel foundries as core and mould making sand, in steel production it is used as a fller, used for production of green glass beverage containers
